Welcome

WELCOME TO THE REFURBISHED JANE!

Dear Family, Friends and Fans

To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, the jane* has moved to a new home! It remains, as ever, a place to share your Cagney & Lacey thoughts.

The original jane has now been demolished. But you can still visit the musty archives in our basement.

Posts are moderated, so may take a while to appear in the jane. We look forward to chatting with you here.

* "The john" is slang in American English for restroom. The women's facility in the 14th precinct was accordingly always referred to as "the jane", and was the only place there where we could share Chris and Mary Beth's private conversations.

  1. Hi, I just wanted to say how much I love the show and that I think stores are wrong for not having the DVDs in stock. If they are supposedly targeting a young audience then Cagney & Lacey is not too much of an 'old' show. I'm 20 years old, live in the UK, was not around when its was originally aired and love it!! It was an excellent show, with excellent leading actresses!

  2. I am surprised there are no comments here as of today. Let's get some C&L talk going! What's everyone's favorite season and why?

  4. I used to watch C&L when I was 10yo on Italian TV and at that time the show was probably shaping my feminist ideals :) However, the TV station at the time had never acquired the rights to show the last season. So for almost 30 years, my finale to C&L was "Hi, my name is Christine and I am an alcoholic". Today, 30 years later, I finally watched the very last episode of the series!! And I enjoyed watching every minute of the last season and being blown away at how well the stories were written, how much Christine grew up, how strong she became and also how Mary Beth became strong. A season worth waiting for 30 years ... a series that no doubt will still remain in history of TV

  5. I used to watch C&L when I was 10yo on Italian TV. However the station had never acquired the rights for the last season so for almost 30 years, for me C&L finished with the line "Hi, my name is Christine and I am an alcoholic". Today, I finally saw the last episode of the series! Boy, it was a season worth waiting for 30 years. Loved how the characters evolved, grew up, become much, much stronger and the acting remained superb as always.

  7. I am one very proud guy to own the whole ENTIRE Cagney and Lacey Series... I watched faithfully every week, when I wasn't in trouble with my parents for watching too much TV (C&L) and not doing my homework... oh well.. I watched them through out the entire series run( it might be due to the fact that I had a crush on Sharon) but I won't tell anyone.. hehehehe... when I saw that there was a website dedicated to the show... I was overjoyed. I have been faithfully reading the blog and keeping with Barney's information and was FINALLY able to purchase the entire series as a "late" Birthday/Christmas present to ME!!!! Thank you Barney, and staff and and Sharon and Tyne, for all of your hard work and expertise in your field. I am grateful for the lessons you taught me about women and the fact that women can do a man's job and be very good at it.
Keep up the great work and enjoy everything you do....
